the therapy relationship

When a task force put together by The American Psychological Association’s Society of Clinical Psychology set out to identify empirically supported treatments, they found that the “therapy relationship makes substantial and consistent contributions to psychotherapy outcome independent of the specific type of treatment,” and that “the therapy relationship accounts for why clients improve (or fail to improve) at least as much as the particular treatment method.”

It has always been important to me to be my best self.

I am still a work in progress.

I am no stranger to struggle.

I have found that becoming my best self is impossible to do alone.

I have benefitted from teachers, mentors, therapists, books, podcasts, friends, experiences, and countless other tools, strategies, and support systems.

My experience has taught me what works for me and what doesn’t in achieving my goals.

I bring myself fully to my work.

My clients are important to me and I want to be able to share with them my experience, strength, and hope!

“You don’t have to do anything especially worthy to create or deserve self-esteem; all you have to do is turn off that critical, haranguing, inner voice.”

— Dr. David D. Burns, MD

“Being the ‘best you can be’ is really only possible when you are deeply connected to another.”

— Dr. Sue Johnson, PhD.

My ideal client is committed to therapy and curious about himself or herself. He or she will be open to exploring thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be contributing to the problems they are identifying and how to go about making changes and adjustments to enjoy more joy and peace of mind.

Some examples of  goals and/or outcomes that my clients might expect to realize include; Improving relationships; Gaining clarity on whether or not to stay in a relationship; Confronting and Overcoming addictions; Healing from childhood trauma, Becoming a kinder, less reactive, less anxious, and more joyful person; Overcoming Limiting and Self-Defeating Beliefs and Attitudes;  Learning to be more assertive, more honest, and more comfortable with others; Losing weight; Experiencing less chronic pain symptoms; Being less controlled by impulses, compulsions, obsessive thoughts, and fear.

I want you to achieve your goals and to live the life that you want and deserve! I’d be honored to help.
